It was a real joy to be at the House of Lords last month and to hear plans for reform of the brick kiln industry in Pakistan! 3 million people, almost all Christian, are trapped in debt bondage. Praying that they can experience real freedom. Recently there was news that the government is pushing through new laws to ban the practice and the use of children in brick kilns.

A recent trip to Pakistan involved visiting a brick kiln in the Punjab. One of the boys there proudly showed me his Christmas decoration, a star made of sticks. The house was nothing more than a shack, a single room for 5 family members, mud floor, leaky corrugated roof and nothing but a couple of 'charpais' in the corner to sleep on. Yet there was excitement and anticipation of Christmas.. May God truly bring joy to the world and to families like this caught in the never ending cycle of debt...
